Adverse Childhood Experiences and the path towards healing. You are not alone.
I share my trials, my victories, and my stories with you in hopes that if any of you were ever touched by childhood abuse or neglect, as I was, you will see yourselves in my experiences and feel strengthened to voice what you had not been able to before. I hope we can learn together why we respond to life through a particular lens, and that there are ways to climb out of this prison of pain, silence, and shame.
My name is Bess Hilpert

findingi.org has been created to communicate the long-term effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences through Bess Hilpert’s unvarnished memoir about her ongoing search to find the parts of her that were stolen in her childhood. In so doing, she hopes to encourage and join hard but beneficial conversations to

  • Let ACE survivors know they are not alone and there are tools and other resources to help their recovery.
  • Let ACE survivors know that their children may have inherited medical and emotional scars, and to be aware of behaviors that can signal the need for help.
  • Help Physicians to recognize that medical and mental health treatments for patients may require ACE screening for proper diagnosis.
  • Alert Public officials and Insurance Companies to the broad implications of ACE research and the need to properly address root causes of physical and mental disease. And the need for new treatments and coverage.

findingi.org does not intend to profit from finding I book sales or donations. After admin, web, and publishing expenses, we will donate excess profits to ACE-related charities and research, starting right here in Central Texas.
